Causes Of Spider Veins

This issue develops when tiny one-way valves weaken inside the veins. As these valves push blood to the heart so once they get weak for someone, blood will accumulate in his or her veins. This accumulation gives the veins a dark pale color. The pressure is the reason for the weakening of these valves. As a result, we see spider veins on the body, and when they swell, they are called varicose veins.

Moreover, it is a hereditary problem. So, if your relatives have them, there are high chances of you catching this problem too. Sometimes sitting or standing for long periods can also be the reason for veins. Also, pregnancy and aging are common reasons for this problem. Furthermore, hormonal changes and injury are other reasons causing this problem.

Self-Care For Spider Veins

Regular exercise is a self-care that you can do to reduce the chances of an increase in spider veins. If you work for long hours sitting in one place, it is advised to take a walk every 30 minutes. Also, avoid standing for a long time if you have spider veins. Hot baths worsen the condition as well, so it should be avoided.

These tips are just precautions, not a solution to this problem.

Treatment By Dermatologists For Spider Veins

1. Compression Stockings

Stockings that create steady pressure in the veins are compression stockings. It helps proper blood flow in the veins. Further, this constant pressure reduces the risk of a blood clot in the veins. Dermatologists recommend these compression stockings. It does not cure the problem. But it helps the dermatologists to treat veins along with other treatments.

2. Sclerotherapy

It is a conventional treatment for spider and varicose veins. Being a safe treatment for this problem it gives better results than any other remedies. In this method, injections are given in the veins. Then massage is performed by a specialist in that area. After this, the doctor suggests wearing a compression stocking on the leg. The dermatologist observes the issue over time and then makes necessary changes in the treatment. This treatment shows results in 4 to 6 weeks in 2 to 3 treatments.

3. Laser Treatments

These are treated with laser lights. This treatment has an immediate impact.  But it takes 1 to 3 months for the veins to completely disappear. Three or more treatment sessions give complete results. In this treatment also you may be required to wear compression stockings. Exposing your skin to the sun should be avoided during and after the procedure.
